Cantene developed the project with Ferro Ingegneria for Salini Impregilo (Italy).
The design proposal has been verified using a multiscale approach. It consists of a longitudinal ventilation with two zones of smoke extraction: one located at about 2800 m from the east portal, and the second one located at about 1815 m from the west portal. SES simulations allow to determine the fans capacity in the portion of the tunnel where semi transversal ventilation is adopted, and the number of jet fans in the segment in which the longitudinal ventilation is used. Results of simulations are compared iteratively with the acceptance criteria both for normal and emergency operation.
